Keane - Strangeland

'Strangeland' is the first album in four years for British alternative rock group Keane. Following on from such multi-platinum releases as 'Hopes and Fears' and 'Under the Iron Sea' this latest record may have taken a little longer to compose but for good reason. In many respects it feels like the completion of a circle says drummer Richard Hughes. With the addition of new bassist Jesse Quin and illustious producer Dan Grech (Radiohead The Vaccines Lana del Rey) Keane deliver a fresh batch of synthpop and piano rock that sees the band return to what they do best: happy-go-lucky anthems awash with charm and sophistication.

The soaring US lead single 'Silenced By the Night' the rapturous 'Black Rain' and the elevating 'Disconnected' are among 12 distinctive tracks that altogether make for a beautifully personal album.

Fans of the band as well as fans of alternative rock and pop should consider this a must have. (John Minard)
